I had no real interest in photography at all until 2005, this was when I got my first digital camera, a Canon PowerShot S70. I had some very pleasing results with this camera and since then photography has become one of my favourite pastimes.
I spent many hours wandering around the countryside looking for insects for really close up shots. I achieved some good results using the macro setting on the Canon PowerShot S70. I think my husband was impressed because he then went on to buy me the Sigma 150mm f/2.8 EX DG MACRO HSM (Canon AF). This is a macro lens which I can use with his Canon EOS 350D DSLR camera. The camera and lens together are quite weighty for me so I have to use a monopod or tripod when taking photographs.
My newest camera, bought in 2012, is the Canon Powershot SX50 HS. It has an incredible 50x optical zoom & extends from 24mm to 1200mm and up to 100x with ZoomPlus. This allows me to quickly and efficiently capture a vast range of subjects, from exceptional long-range close-ups of wildlife to impressive landscapes, with the added bonus of excellent macro shots, with just one camera. This make life so much easier when out and about because I don't have to carry around lots of heavy equipment.
I've just heard that Canon have brought out a new bridge camera and the reviews look pretty good so I think I'll be adding a new camera to my wish list very soon!!
